statement by the Secretary of MCFC Sussex:
In 2016 Man City offered supporters Value Gold Season
Tickets at just £299.
5 members took up the opportunity to invest in these tickets, within a season ticket pool enabling members to attend matches for only £20 a match. We only needed to sell 15 games of 19 to cover the investment.
The members were:

Neale Gatenby
Alan Herbert
Jason Hanks
Daniel Jarvis
The following season, to renew these tickets we had to pay full price for each season ticket. The prices ranged from £575 to £650. We made the decision to renew these tickets.
It was a flawed decision based on hindsight. It required us to sell ALL tickets at over £30. Ticket sales for home games slumped and we went through two seasons of a very low take up on these tickets which were all singles not sat together.
We made a considerable loss on the investment. Most of the loss was soaked up by me personally. Some of it was soaked up by the profit made from the two tickets sat together owned by Steve Wade and Kev Lamb.
The decision was then made to abandon these season tickets because we couldn’t maintain the losses. (Well I certainly couldn’t!!)
Steve and Kev’s season tickets remain an important part of our strategy to provide cheap tickets for City home games. They are not £299, but at £400 each provide us with an economic means of attending the Etihad.
None of these events were caused by COVID 19. It all happened well before the pandemic restrictions came into effect. In fact Covid provided an opportunity for better decisions. A season free of subscription costs to members, despite all outgoing payments being maintained, such as the Official Supporters Club subscription and the maintenance of the website. We have also been able reduce subscription from £35 to £10 last year, and an average of £10 this coming year. Covid provided challenges but MCFC Sussex survived stronger than ever.
Finally
we have made a bid for two more Value Gold Season tickets at
£299 for the 2022/23 season. One for myself and one for Neale
Gatenby. Trust me if we are successful with this bid we will not
renew at full price next season.
